Corbin + Amy

Have you ever met a couple that was so in love they simply couldn’t wait to just be married? These two are those people. They set a date in August for a big wedding, but with Corbin being stationed in Alaska, they decided it was the perfect backdrop for an epic elopement- and Corbin decided that to celebrate his birthday in February, he wanted to make Amy his forever. They called me and asked how quickly I could make it up- and within a couple of weeks we were suddenly trekking in the -30 degree forest in Denali National Park. Every part of the day was tailored to celebrating with their favorite things. We started with breakfast bagels and coffee from their favorite place in town, packed up a picnic lunch, (as well as a surprise birthday cake) and snowshoes into Corbin’s Subaru, and headed off wrapped in blankets to the park. They did a first look, and then picked their favorite spot to have the ceremony in the snow. The officiant (one of their best friends) summed it up like this “ I was sitting with God asking him what it was that He had on his heart for their marriage, and one word came to mind- JOY. IT doesn’t take more than twenty minutes of being around these two to find out that one of the cornerstones of their relationship is infectious laughter. Heaven is rejoicing over these two and their commitment to each other, and to the amazing adventures that are set before them”. The ceremony was beautifully intimate, finished by a prayer of blessing that brought many tears. We laughed and cried and shivered together, and then celebrated with food and a moose sighting and a little bit of snowshoeing before heading back home. Basically, it was the perfect day.
