GET TO KNOW SARAH

Oh hey friend!

A bit about me. In years past, I would have told you about myself by telling you I’m an enneagram 2w3, or the fact that I come alive in the mountains, or that my favorite food is pad Thai- all of which are true. But honestly, that all feels superficial. I’m a girl that took a long time to figure out who I am (I guess that’s what your 20’s are all about, right?) I planned on living in Tanzania for the long haul and photographing for a non- profit there while raising lots of kiddos in a small village. Obviously, that is not how life played out :)

My whole world is now my little tribe, and all the adventures in life revolve around them. I met my husband, Taylor, in Germany in an art program about a decade ago where I studied analog photography. We were best friends that fell in love unexpectedly, and ended up traveling the world together. When we slowed down and settled in the Carolinas, we were surprised with the greatest gift we’ve been given in this life- our little man Isaac. He came on the scene and we found ourselves learning new rhythms and core values, shifting towards a rural life in the mountains with lots of land and a focus on the outdoors. We often spend our summers back in Taylor’s hometown in British Columbia, Canada to escape the humidity, and we have just partnered with our besties to open and run TR’s first glamping ground and mini farm. Life is still full of good adventures!

WHERE THE INSPIRATION CAME FROM: ANALOG

During my years overseas I shot almost exclusively on film, which is why my style has always been rooted in documentary + candid vibes. I have always wanted my photos to be emotive, to truly capture the way the moment felt. However, it was quite a challenge to translate what I learned while documenting different cultures and spaces into something that was congruent with the wedding industry.

Though it took some time and loads of pep talks about being ok with being different, I finally figured out what my lane is. I crave authenticity above all else. I shoot my personal life solely on film (and do offer film add-ons/ film sessions for clients) which has helped me to stay inspired while documenting the seemingly mundane moments of motherhood- not shying away from the imperfections and taking the extra moment to find beauty in every season.

I'm here for the genuine, soulful images that remind you what it felt like.
